The main goal for this coastal engineering project is to leverage a "Wave Calculator" implemented in MATLAB.
The wave calculator is a program that takes parameters like
- wave height,
- period, and
- local water depth
and outputs useful information like
- wave length,
- k factor,
- wave speed (C), and
- many other useful items.
This project consists of a MATLAB program that takes an array of wave height data over time and outputs
plots of pressure distribution as a function of water depth.
Although the data obtained through my program scripts was written to account for basic wave functions, it is
a good estimation of the forces exerted by a series of waves. This information can be useful for seawall design.
Essentially, this MATLAB program will allow the user to enter wave height data obtained for a particular area
and then use that data to determine the feasibility of constructing a seawall or bulkhead for that given area.
